And like that, everything changes...
Today this space will house something a little different than my usual ramblings about topics such as how much Russ Ortiz sucks, how much Jeff Francis seems to be trying to pitch like him this year (walks, walks, walks) and any other sports-related issue that pops into my head. My life has undergone a complete 180 in the last two days, and while the changes are phenomenal for me personally, they do have a rather adverse affect on my work here.
Thursday afternoon I found out that I have been admitted to the Master of Public Administration program at Queen's University in Kingston. Needless to say this is a huge shock to me, because despite my best efforts to remain positive, I really never thought I had a chance. With school comes tuition, and tuition means I need to make some cash. Today I accepted a full-time job at a print reproduction company here in Ottawa, and will be starting bright and early on monday. To make my life busier, I am keeping the part-time job I was already waiting for. So in two days I went from no work and no future, to two jobs and a big challenge awaiting me in September.
I don't have to tell you that this severly cuts into my time to read about, write about, and just plain watch and enjoy sports. To go along with the new schedule, I am determined to spend as much time as possible with the love of my life, since we are now assured of spending all of next year apart. I'm not saying that I'm going to stop completely, but that new stuff here will become much more sporadic.
To anyone who has had enough time on their hands to read this space, and has enjoyed it enough to do so with any frequency... I want to thank you for helping me fill some of my days with something I really enjoy. Hopefully you'll all still make your way here every now and then this summer... and hopefully it will be to hear about things like a Mariners playoff race, Ichiro chasing .400, the NHL and NHLPA finally resolving their differences, Jeff Francis remembering that he's better than Russ Ortiz and pushing for NL Rookie of the Year, Jeremy Reed contending for that same honor in the AL, and just maybe the Toronto Blue Jays and the Ottawa Lynx having winning seasons and bringing Canadians back into baseball.
